Hey there I just got my first few doses and have yet to try them.
I was wondering if it is safe to smoke while listening to a dose?
Or if it is recommended not to smoke because it will somehow screw things up and the dose won't work?

unless the dose is shorter than 5 minutes, i wouldn't do it, because you have to relax, and even keeping it in your lips takes some effort.

I suggest reading the guide. You should remain perfectly still. If you really want to though, make sure it's the only thing you're doing. Everything else recommended in the guide should stay the same.

I have an idea for you to help him give him sugar pills telling him it will make him stop smoking (dont tell him there sugar pills). and second give him to magenets and tell him to put them on his ears when he sleeps.

know these things normaly dont do anything but if you tell him they will work, and his mind and body believes it, the body will quit because it thinks its working

Placebo effect ! haha Did you mean smoke cigs? or pot? Because from what I have experienced pot may help you mellow out and fall into trance quickly! instead of hindering your dosing experience ! Anywho Happy dosing (: and goodluck ! ... Also dont listen to a sleeping dose with a cig in your hand... Remember kids only you can prevent forest fires!
